In a small town on the outskirts of Leeds, in the old West Riding of Yorkshire just before the outbreak of the Second World War, Jessie Harper married Colin Mathews was a year older. With Colin’s elder brother David who married Doreen Pritchard now living next door to them, they began to upgrade their old houses into modern living quarters with a large shop at the front and began selling second hand furniture. Business steadily grew and kept both families in a reasonable living standard, and when Jessie had a son they named him Gordon. A few years later, she had a daughter and they named her Tracy and weeks later Doreen had a daughter and they named her Barbara. In his teens Gordon maintained his hobby of painting. It really took his interest and from a hobby a successful business began. If only his love life was as simple. It became more complicated and caused many upsets. It was years later when finally settled down; the past caught up with him and not only caused embarrassment but cost financially.
