Based around a small mining town in the North of England. Themed around the early 1960’s. The two main characters are Pete Coleman and Janet Yates who meet in a local youth club. They have their teenage ups and downs and through a terrible mistake their relationship ends. An old workmate brings them back together after a considerable amount of time. Pete's health deteriorates rapidly as Janet falls pregnant. An intriguing down to earth love story with twists of fate touched with Northern English humour.
To say this book is from an author I hadn't heard of before, it has most impressed me and I would dare state that it is the best read of 2006. I found this an essential read, which I could not put down, from an author that obviously knows his subject. I cannot wait to read his other offerings in the hope of consistency.

Realistic to say the least. A compelling read right to the last page.
